How to prevent your PEN drive from VIRUS

Many of your PC/laptop's normally gets virus because of Pen Drives or USB devices (Even PC's who are not connected to network ). Some Virus like Ravmon Virus , Heap41a worm which are not detected by anti virus normally spreads mostly by the Pen Drives . In such a case what can you do to prevent your PC from getting infected with Virus that spreads through USB devices or Pen Drives ?

You can protect your PC by just following the simple steps below . It won't take much time.

Connect your Pen Drive or USB drive to your computer.
Now a dialogue window will popup asking you to choose among the options as shown in the figure. Don't choose any of them , Just simply click Cancel.

Now go to Start--> Run and type cmd to open the Command Prompt window .
Now go to My Computer and Check the Drive letter of your USB drive or Pen Drive.
( E.g. If it is written Kingston (I:) , then I: will be the drive letter .)
In the Command Window ( cmd ) , type the drive letter: and Hit Enter .
Now type dpir/w/o/a/p and Hit Enter
You will get a list of files . In the list , search if anyone of the following do exist
1. Autorun.inf
2. New Folder.exe
3. Bha.vbs
4. Iexplore.vbs
5. Info.exe
6. New_Folder.exe
7. Ravmon.exe
8. RVHost.exe or any other files with .exe Extension .

If you find any one of the files above , Run the command attrib -h -r -s -a *.* and Hit Enter.

Now Delete each File using the following Command del filename ( E.g del autorun.inf ) .

That's it . Now just scan your USB drive with the anti virus you have to ensure that you made your Pen Drive free of Virus .

Be very careful when u get caught with dust in your eyes...as following pictures shows the effects of bad dust to a person. While he was talking he felt an eye irritation, thinking that it was just regular dust, he started to rub his eye, in an effort to remove the dust.... then his eyes got really red, and he went and bought some eye drops from a pharmacy....few days passed and his eyes were still red and seems a little swollen.

Again he dismissed it as the constant rubbing and that it will go away. The days go by the swelling of his eye got worse, redder and bigger....till he decided to go and see a doctor for a check up.

The doctor immediately wanted an operation, being afraid of a tumor growth or cyst. At the operation, what was thought to be a growth or cyst, actually turned out to be a live worm..... what was thought initially to be just mere dust actually was an insect's egg.

If u do get caught dust, and the pain persists, pls go, see a doctor immediately........

First gold medal for india in olympic

Abhinav Bindra from India has won the first-ever individual Olympic gold medal for his country when he claimed the men's 10m Air Rifle shooting title here on Monday.

Athens Games champion Zhu Qinan of China won the silver and Henri Hakkinen of Finland took the bronze at the Beijing Shooting Hall on the outskirts of the Chinese capital.

Bindra, the 25-year-old businessman from Chandigarh, followed his world championship title two years ago to finally win a landmark gold medal for his country.

In one of the most thrilling shooting finals in Olympic history, Bindra overcame a two-point deficit against Hakkinen and one point against Zhu after the qualification rounds to annexe the title.

The Indian trumped his rivals with the best finish of 104.5 in the 10-shot final as he went into the last shot level with Hakkinen on 689.7 points.

While Bindra secured his best score of 10.8 in the deciding shot, Hakkinen managed only 9.7 to concede the silver to Zhu, whose last shot was 10.5.

Bindra finished with a combined tally of 700.5, a fair distance behind Zhu's Olympic record of 702.7 set in Athens.

Zhu came in with 699.7 this time and Hakkinen, a member of Finland's armed forces who is taking part in his first Olympics, scored 699.4 points.

India, winners of eight field hockey gold medals, had never won an individual Olympic title before Bindra's feat.

The previous best was trap shooter Rajyavardhan Rathore's silver at Athens, while there were bronze medals for wrestler Khasaba Jadhav (1952), tennis star Leander Paes (1996) and woman weightlifter Karnam Malleswari (2000).

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters... S.T.R .

My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word.. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance)

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.

Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Remember the "3" steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions :

S * Ask the individual to SMILE .
T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg "It is sunny out today").
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

NOTE : Another 'sign' of a stroke is
1. Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue.
2. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

Revealing the Headphone and Car-Kit menus

Please note that if you do these next tricks, the new menus can't be erased without retoring the factory default settings. To do these tricks you need to short-circuit the pins on the bottom of the phone next to where you plug in you charger.

1. To activate the "Headset" menu, you need to short-circuit pins "3" and "4". After a short time the word "Headset" will be shown in the display. Menu 3-6 is now enabled.

2. To activate the "Car" menu, you need to short-circuit pins "4" and "5". After a short time the word "Car" will be shown in the display. Menu 3-7 is now enabled.

THE REBOOT TRICK

This should work on all software versions of the 6110.

1. Go to the Calendar (Menu-8)

2. Make a note or reminder.

3. Enter some text into the edit box.

4. Hold "Clear" until the whole text is cleared, then press "Back".

5. Press "0". The main screen will now be showing but a space appears on the screen. (you can't see it)

6. Enter 4 digits (e.g. 1234).

7. Use the down arrow to move the cursor to the left side of the numbers and the space (Down arrow twice).

8. Now enter 6 digits and press the call button.

Wait for a few seconds, the screen should start to flash and reboots. It should alsowork on other menus like the "Profiles" menu.

Taj Mahal stands in the city of Agra, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, on the banks of the Yamuna River. It was built in the memory of the beautiful Arjumand Bano Begum, who won the heart of a Mughal prince. She was married at 21 to Emperor Jahangir’s third son Prince Khurram and stayed loyally by his side through good times and bad: in the luxurious royal palaces of Agra as well as the transient tents of war camps.

In AD 1628, Khurram became king after a bloody battle of succession: he took the name Shahjahan or “King of the World” and showered his beloved begum with the highest titles. She became Mumtaz Mahal, the exalted of the palace and Mumtaz-ul-Zamani, the exalted of the Age. But Mumtaz Mahal was not destined to be queen for long.

In 1631, Shahjahan went on an expedition to the south and, as always, Mumtaz Mahal accompanied him. But she died in childbirth at Burhanpur. She had borne Shahjahan fourteen children, of whom four sons and three daughters survived. When Mumtaz Mahal died, she was just 39 years old. Shahjahan was inconsolable and contemporary chronicles tell of the royal court mourning for two years. there was no music, no feasting, and no celebration of any kind.

Shahjahan, who was a passionate builder, now decided to erect a memorial to his queen in pristine marble that the world would never forget. The site selected for the tomb was a garden by the Yamuna river, unshadowed by any other structure. The garden had been laid by Raja Man Singh of Amber and now belonged to his grndson, Raja Jai Singh. By a royal firman, Shahjahan gave Jai Singh four havelis in exchange for the garden. The site was also chosen because it was located on a bend in the river, and so could be seen from Shahjahan’s personal palace in Agra Fort, further upstream.

Construction Of The Mausoleum - Taj Mahal

Work on the mausoleum began in 1633 and 20,000 workers laboured for 17 years to build it. The most skilled architects, inlay craftsmen, calligraphers, stone-carvers and masons came from all across Indian and lands as distant as Persia and Turkey. The master mason was from Baghdab, an expert in building the double dome from Persia, and an inlay specialist from Delhi.

Yemen sent agates, the corals came from Arabia, the garnets from Bundelkhand, onyx and amethyst from Persia. Mumtaz Mahal’s final resting-place was ornamented like a queen’s jewel-box.

Canned Soda

This incident happened recently in North Texas .

A woman went boating one Sunday taking with her some cans of coke which she put into the refrigerator of the boat. On Monday she was taken to the hospital and placed in the Intensive Care Unit. She died on Wednesday.

The autopsy concluded she died of Leptospirosis. This was traced to the can of coke she drank from, not using a glass. Tests showed that the can was infected by dried rat urine and hence the disease Leptospirosis.

Rat urine contains toxic and deathly substances. It is highly recommended to thoroughly wash the upper part of soda cans before drinking out of them. The cans are typically stocked in warehouses and transported straight to the shops without being cleaned.

A study at NYCU showed that the tops of soda cans are more contaminated than public toilets (i.e).. full of germs and bacteria. So wash them with water before putting them to the mouth to avoid any kind of fatal accident.

Web cafe fraud highlights public PC insecurity

A New York man has pleaded guilty to stealing bank details and other personal data from hundreds of people by installing clandestine keylogging software on public computer terminals.

Experts say that the case highlights the risks involved with using public terminals for sensitive transactions.

Juju Jiang admitted last week to installing software on computers in 14 Kinko convenience stores in the US in order to record every keystroke entered by unsuspecting users. He used a program called Invisible KeyLogger Stealth to capture more than 450 usernames and passwords, starting in February 2001.

The program runs in the background on a PC to try to prevent detection. The keyboard strokes are stored in small binary file that can be retrieved at a later date.

Keylogging software programs are advertised as a means of keeping a check on a child's web surfing. There are even hardware keyloggers that can be fitted between a keyboard cable and a computer.

Jiang was only caught after he used a stolen ID and password to remotely log on to a victim's home computer. This person became aware of the sting when they saw their cursor moving about the screen apparently by itself and saw information being entered in an online money transfer system.
Safe not sorry

Anti-virus and intrusion detection software can be an effective means at detecting hidden keyloggers. But, even if public systems appear to have such software installed, some experts say users should always assume that they are insecure.

"Unfortunately there's nothing you can do," says Gunter Ollman, a UK-based consultant with Internet Security Systems. "For anything that's going to require confidential information, such as a credit card number, you shouldn't be using a public system."

Ollman adds that some online banks have begun recently adopting measures designed to foil key logging software. A user might be asked to fill out a different selection of characters from their password at each visit, for example. Or they might be required to configure drop down menus using a mouse instead of relying on just the keyboard for authentication.

But Ollman adds that some stealth software can capture everything on an entire computer screen, rendering these countermeasures useless.

A phoney fraud alert is similar to a phishing scam. It can come in the form of an email or a phone call claiming to be from your bank or financial institution. The scammer will usually tell you that your credit card or account has been cancelled because it was involved in criminal activity, or because they suspect your card or details have been stolen. This is a trick to get you to given them your account details.

You will be told that a suspicious transaction has recently occurred on your account, perhaps a large purchase in a foreign country. You will be told that if you did not authorise the transaction, you need to take immediate action as your credit card details have been stolen.

The scammer will ask you to confirm your credit card or account details so the ‘bank’ can ‘investigate’. If you receive an email, it may ask you to visit a website to confirm your credit card details or to find out more information on the supposed ‘fraud’ to your account.

In some variations of this scam, the scammer may already have your credit card number (that they have stolen previously), and may even quote this to you. They will then ask you to confirm that you are the cardholder by telling them the 3 or 4 digit security number printed on the card. If the scammers have this number, they can use your card to buy things over the internet or phone.

These phoney fraud investigations are used to steal your banking details so the scammers can use your account. They work by lowering your guard with the phoney fraud alert. They hope that you panic and do what they suggest to fix the ‘problem’. They are particularly tricky to spot because real banks and credit unions often do contact people if there has been suspicious activity on their account.

Warning signs

* You receive an email or a phone call from somebody saying they are from your bank, asking you about recent activity on your credit card or account.
* You are asked to confirm your credit card and bank account details by return email, visiting a website or over the phone.
* The caller or the email claims that there has been fraudulent activity found on your bank account, or that your card has been cancelled.
* You may be advised to contact a fake fraud investigations body, and discouraged from contacting your bank or credit union.

Protect yourself from phoney fraud alerts

* NEVER send money, or give credit card or online account details to anyone you do not know and trust.
* Do not give out your personal, credit card or online account details over the phone unless you made the call and the phone number came from a trusted source.
* Do not open suspicious or unsolicited emails (spam): delete them.
* Do not click on any links in a spam email, or open any files attached to them.
* Never call a telephone number that you see in a spam email.
* NEVER reply to a spam email (even to unsubscribe).
* If you want to access an internet account website, use a bookmarked link or type the address in yourself: NEVER follow a link in an email.
* Never enter your personal, credit card or online account information on a website that you are not certain is genuine.
* Never send your personal, credit card or online account details through an email.
* Order a your credit report every year to make sure no one is using your name to borrow money or run up debts.

Nasa and Google together developing a new campus!

NASA and Google today announced plans to develop a new high-technology campus at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, Calif.

Under the terms of the 40-year agreement, Google will lease 42.2 acres of unimproved land in NASA Research Park at Ames to construct up to 1.2 million square feet of offices and research and development (R&D) facilities in a campus-style setting. An overview of the area is available in Google Maps™ and the Google Earth™ program at http://maps.google.com/googleameslease.

“With this new campus, they will establish a new era of expanded collaboration with Google that will further enhance our Silicon Valley connections,” said Ames Director S. Pete Worden. “This major expansion of NASA Research Park supports NASA’s mission to lead the nation in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research.”

“This long-term lease agreement is a key component of Google’s strategy for continued growth in Silicon Valley,” said David Radcliffe, Google’s vice president of real estate and workplace services. “We believe this collaboration between Google, NASA and the city of Mountain View is emblematic of the mutually beneficial partnerships that can be created between the public and private sectors.”

Under the terms of the lease, Google will pay NASA an initial base rent of $3.66 million per year. This rate is based on appraisals establishing fair market value of the land. NASA will use the proceeds to cover the full cost of the lease and the balance for maintenance, capital revitalization, and improvements of the real property assets at Ames.

The 40-year lease provides for periodic escalations and adjustments of rent. Google may extend the lease for three 10-year terms. After that, NASA and Google may agree to extend the lease two additional 10-year terms. If all extensions are exercised, the lease term will be a total of 90 years. NASA will retain control over the project during its construction phase, including approving the design, issuing building permits, conducting inspections and monitoring construction.

Construction will proceed in three phases. The first phase is planned to begin by the end of September 2013, the second phase by 2018 and the third by 2022. While the majority of the development will consist of office and R&D space, Google also plans to construct company housing and amenities such as dining, sports, fitness, child care, conference and parking facilities for its employees, as well as recreation and parking facilities and infrastructure improvements for NASA’s use.

Today’s announcement is the latest in a series of collaborations dating back to September 2005, when NASA and Google announced plans to work together on a variety of technology-focused R&D activities. NASA and Google signed a memorandum of understanding that year, launching negotiations for this development in NASA Research Park. Located at Ames, NASA Research Park is a world-class, shared-use educational and research-and-development campus.

Since signing the memorandum of understanding in 2005, NASA and Google have begun collaboration on several joint projects. The Planetary Content project develops software that makes it easier for the science community to publish planetary data via the Internet. This project has already provided high-resolution lunar imagery and maps to the Google Moon™ program and resulted in the “NASA” layer in Google Earth.

Similarly, the Global Connection project enhances the “National Geographic” layer in Google Earth by embedding geo-referenced stories and images from around the world. The Disaster Response project develops prototype software tools to help improve first response to large-scale natural disasters.

Govt recalls 46,000 Z-series passports

Nearly 46,000 people across the country will have to surrender their passports and get them exchanged for new ones, as the government has recalled passports with serial numbers Z-000001 to Z-045925, most of them issued in Dubai.
"The government has issued instructions that all Indian passports with serial numbers Z-000001 to Z-045925 are to be recalled and new passports issued in their place," a release said.

Though the official announcement did not specify the reason for the recall, sources here say there could be chances of some of the passports issued in Dubai, falling into "wrong hands". Holders of the 'Z' series of passports will now have to submit fresh applications. While those in Dubai can approach the Indian Consulate there, those in India can approach the regional passport office concerned.

Sources in the MEA's passport and visa division in New Delhi, however, said that passports were being recalled not just from Dubai but from all over the world. They added that this was because of a technical error in these travel documents.
Sources in the Chennai International Airport said immigration officials have been asked to look out for the passport, especially with passengers from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) sources in Mumbai police said:
"We and the immigration authorities at the Chatrapathi Shivaji International Airport have special instructions to keep a watch for passports of the 'Z' series."
Dubai's population increased from 1.130 million in 2005 to 1.422 million in 2006, with Indians adding to the growth. People from TN, who constitute about 20% of UAE population, are a worried lot as they could face problems while travelling.

Most important thing is that, please keep your company ID card inside the pocket / Purse and do not show it outside people once you come out from the company premises. Otherwise it is the primary identification that you are IT Tech guy and they may follow you.

These people were attacked when they were coming back from work or when they were travelling late at night; People with knifes, swords, guns attack in groups of 3 - 4 or may be even more .Another trick that they use is to tie GI metal strings in the middle of the roads and when some one crashes because of it they loot them .Lets us not fall into this trap .Please take precaution and make sure no one loses anything coz we work in the nights and for a better tomorrow - let us make sure that we see that tomorrow.

Some tips to avoid these situations--

1. Avoid using bikes in the night while coming to office and while going back from office late night.
2. Try going in groups when you have late night plans.
3. Avoid taking ladies along with you in the night.
4. Make sure you wear a helmet coz that can avoid you from a serious crash on your head.
5. Avoid using short cuts to reach home like roads without street lights and also sad and scary roads.
6. Make sure you carry all your documents when you are going out in the night coz that will avoid you taking a short cut home trying to avoid the cops.
7. Inform (clearly) your family when you are leaving home and also inform your friends where you will be and which way you are coming and as well avoid meeting people in remote places.
8. Avoid giving drops, lifts to people whom you don't know and also to people when are travelling in the nights.
9. If at all you are coming to work by bike make sure you inform your manager that you are coming by bike and the time that you will reach there so that at least your manager can keep a track of you and the time.
10. Make sure you inform the police if you any see anything unusual or people moving around suspiciously.
11. If there is a fight happening on the road please avoid it and if you see a accident help the person , then immediately leave or inform the police and make sure you did your part remove the perception that you
will be in trouble if you inform the police but remember do not involve completely.
12. Avoid stopping the vehicle if people are trying to stop you avoid the route and go by another place
13. Avoid unnecessary arguments with people and especially with auto drivers and tempo drivers.
14. Scream and shout on top of your voice to draw others attention/help
15. Carry some chilli power/pepper powder or even a divider (remember yr campus box, and throw on the attacker to temporarily immobilize him. These are allowed to be carried under self defence act. If not anything just give the attacker a hard blow/ throw him off balance.
16. Finally make sure you are always at reach, keep your cell phone on and in ringer mode.

IT Companies Beware: US May Introduce 50:50 Law

According to reports, about 90% employees at the US offices of some top-rung Indian IT companies are Indians. At present, IT companies can send any number of Indian employees with a year's experience under L1-B visas.
